We went to Narvik in Lapland to check out Fjords & nice scenery. Here's my best panoramic shot
"Geologically, a fjord (/ˈfjɔərd/ or
We had time to walk around the city centre of Narvik, and we found a church but its doors were locked.
Toby (from Germany): "This is 'The Church that Does Not Open'. There's so much hope for people in Norway."
In the evening, we proceeded to do one of the craziest things ever - take a dip in a frozen/freezing lake.
Here's how it goes:
1) Go into the sauna in your swimsuit for about 10 mins
2) Walk out in below temperatures towards the lake, scantily clad in a swimsuit, socks & a towel, against the ridunkerlouzly freezing winds
3) Climb down the ladder into the hole cut out of the ice
4) Immerse in the freezing water
5) Scream
6) Breathe
7) Put your face in
8) Wonder why did you do this to yourself
9) Climb back up
10) Wait for your friends to go in and come out as you stand against mother nature once again
11) Wade on the ice back to the sauna wondering what you've gotten yourself into as your feet start to hurt from the cold and uneven surfaces
12) Go back to the sauna and feel like you're strong enough to do it again
Selfie while I was still inside
When you're in the sauna, you can actually hear people scream from the lake hahaha. And most commonly expressed terms were "OMG" "AAAHHHH" and random hollers.
Someday, Jiahui, when you read this post, remember this: YOU'RE NOT DOING THIS SHIZZ AGAIN
The last night together was spent doing really funny stuff - from dancing Samba to playing games with spoons and bottle caps. Kenelm, Toby, Caroline (tour guide) and I played a game of spoon hockey - beer cap puck, spoons as sticks, cups as goal posts. Good times heh.
