Lapland Day 3 - Sami

After the Ice Hotel, we moved further up to the home of a Sami family. Samis are native to Lapland - which spans Norway, Finland & Sweden. Their lifelihood is to herd reindeers, and to sell its meat and fur.

We went inside a little Sami hut to warm up and listen to their stories. Samis are really religious people, such that even the direction of the spout of a kettle, or where they place their firewood matters due to their superstitions.

Smoked reindeer meat on a piece of bread. It tasted like normal smoked meat. I guess you can't get the distinct meat flavour since it's smoked. I definitely wished that we could have more than a tiny slice per person.

Reindeer soup! Very nice to have when it's cold. It's slightly fatty because of the reindeer meat.

This is one of the children in the household. They go to school and learn English & Swedish.

Wise words

This particular reindeer was literally chasing me around to get food and trying to snatch it from my hand. No bro, you've got to take the selfie with me first.
