Took the rest of the week off to go to Amsterdam because there were no more cheap flights in April and May, and the tulip fields were one of the rare few things on my bucket list. Scratch that, it was pretty much the only thing on that list because I don't really have a list. That didn't make much sense.
Amsterdam has the nicest scenery for postcards, really. The average building looks like a chocolate house.
My chance to be a drug lord for only 10eur
Credit to Siying who made this, and Nigel for the idea
Chantel said that I was really lucky that day, that the "I amsterdam" sign was so empty. On other days that she had gone, there would be at least 30-40 people. I went by another time and yeah it's usually very very crowded. A photoshoot plus photo of the sign to myself was really a blessing I guess heh. :D
Best burger ever at Burger Bar, and it is actually afforadable at 5 eur.
Stroopwaffle McFlurry, which tasted like a lot of sugar (Caramel biscuits in Macs ice cream nothing much)
Coffeeshops are where they sell weed. And it cracks me up how they market weed here if you can see the small white words at the side- "Herbal Energizers", "Stimulants", "Magic Truffels", "The Bulldog Seeds"
I had honestly thought of trying weed, but I subsequently chickened out at the coffeeshop. And I'm quite thankful that I did, because I would have wasted a wonderful morning the next day had I been subsequently stoned.
Went to check out the Red Light District after dinner. It was... interesting... Seen some men ask for prices, go inside, come out with a paiseh face. I even had one of the ladies look at me seductively, and I laughed in response. heh. I'll have more stories about it for Day 3's post.
The first day was pretty much about being exposed to the vices in Amsterdam - prostitution, drugs, dodgy characters.
